Information received that the subsidies enacted in 2016 in order to promote the sale of electric vehicles by the German Ministry of Economy will be extended to the end of 2020.
Due to ecological sensitivities, new emission regulations and accusations of infraction in the diesel emission measurements of some German automotive companies, the German government has begun to take important steps in the expansion of electric vehicles in recent years.
For the subsidies to be extended by the end of 2020, a draft was prepared by the Ministry of Economy and was sent to other ministries for opinions and confirmation.
In the regulation of subsidies introduced by the Ministry In June 2016, it was specified that a subsidy of four thousand euros in favor of the buyer for each electric car would be applied and the implementation would be valid until the end of June 2019. The new draft prescribes that many of the old provisions should be retained and the current period should be extended to the end of 2020.
According to official data, the incentive application has increased electric car sales, but the share of electric car sales in total sales still remains at only 1%.
